Estonian and Finnish Universities

Estonian universities generally accept the IB graduates on the following terms:

  • Students have to gain at least 29 points and need to have at least a 6 in HL subject related to their chosen major

Finnish universities accept the IB graduates on the following terms:

  • IB students are equal to the Finnish Baccalaureate
  • Each department in the university has set its own standards for the IB students

University of Tartu:
Student applicants with IBO School diploma, whose final examinations score is 28 or more, and at least one exam has been taken in any higher level subject which is required for admission to a particular curriculum (except for exams in a foreign language and mother tongue) are admitted to the programme of their choice and granted a state funded study place.

Not applicable for curricula of teacher training, Medicine in English and those where prior work experience is required.

IBO schools graduates who are applying to the English group of Medicine:
Student applicants from IBO schools whose score from final examinations is 35 or more points, and one of the exam results- biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics- of a higher level course is 6 or more points, are admitted to a study place.

IBO schools graduates who are applying to the Estonian group of Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy Student applicants from IBO schools whose score from final examinations is 28 or more points, and one of the exams- biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics- is done in a higher level, are admitted to a state commissioned or non-state commissioned study place of a curriculum they have chosen. Student applicants from IBO schools whose score from final examinations is 24 or more points, and one of the exams- biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics- is done in a higher level, are admitted to a non-state commissioned study place of a curriculum they have chosen. All applicants are required to be sufficiently fluent in Estonian at the time of admission to the university!
